In Internet-based teaching and learning it is essential to ask: “What must the learners do?" We cannot rely on them to sit back, relax, and take a test afterwards. This paper illustrates four unique learning models, a virtual debate, a rag procession, a virtual opera and a virtual reality game. It sets out to demonstrate the flexibility of t he Internet as a tool for constructivist and co-operative learning, and concludes that learners can be challenged and enriched, encouraged to share their personal beliefs and emotions, engage in project-management activities and work actively even while playing a virtual game.
