Zusammenfassungen
Sarason challenges educators to understand that to continue to struggle for 'power over' rather than 'power with' overlooks the mutual interest of all parties that will stifle any real progressin education reform. In a classroom utilizing effective teaching practices students would respond to the question,'How do you ratethis book?' with all thumbs up.

Bemerkungen zu diesem Buch
What I say in this book has been said by others, past and present. If anything is distinctive about what I say, it inheres in two features: emphasis and interrelating ideas heretofore kept separate. My hope is that the reader will come to view educational reform from a new perspective. If on the level of action this perspective is troublesome because it does not pro- vide simple answers, it is in part because it is an unfamiliar perspective. If familiarity breeds contempt, unfamiliarity breeds rejection. No one warmly seeks, let alone embraces, significant intellectual and personal change.
